Sparrow Mart – Pop Art Meets Supermarket

It's no surprise that the quickest selling piece on the Sparrow Mart shelves were the Campbell's Soup cans. Every piece, uniquely displayed yet familiar at every turn felt like a playful imagining of a Pop Art grocery store. This amazing collection of 31,000 Felt hand-stitched pieces made it's way into the Standard Hotel in Downtown Los Angeles this month. With the excitement of such a large installation we had to go see what all the buzz was about and possibly snag a piece of the action for ourselves. (Every piece in the mock grocery store was for sale and you could shop with a cart or basket to fill your childhood imagination with the real thing.)

Created by British artist Lucy Sparrow, the installation comes just a year after a successful run in NYC at The Standard High Line. So if you're in LA this month it's worth a gander. Don't forget your cash – the felt ATM may give you a hard time.
