Social Media Designer I – ESPN, Los Angeles, CA

Job Summary:

An ESPN Social Media Designer I has the blended responsibility of bringing proactive social content ideas to the table and collaborating with social specialists on their vision for content that will thrive on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, TikTok, Snapchat and other off-platform brand extensions. This position requires an ability to work on multiple projects at once and work efficiently in a fast-paced and high-pressure environment. The ideal candidate is a self-starter who works well in a team environment with a flexible work schedule and an unquenchable thirst for learning.

Position may be based in either LA or CT.

Responsibilities:

  • Create assets across off-platform destinations that are uniquely optimized to fit each audience and align with ESPN social brand identities.

  • Work in a fast-paced environment that requires quick-turning numerous pieces of content in a day

  • Demonstrate an ability to balance multiple projects and the flexibility to pivot from a plan to react to breaking news or viral content

  • Collaborate alongside social media specialists and help them execute their visions on a daily basis

  • Pre-produce Instagram Stories, IGTV, and other more complex creative executions

  • Educate social media specialists to advance their understanding of basic design principles in order to maintain the ESPN visual brand and post content that is socially-optimized at the highest level

  • Communicate with managers and editors to regularly update project timelines and report on progress

Basic Qualifications:

  • 1+ years’ experience creating designs for mobile and/or social media

  • Fluent in Adobe Design Suite: Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign

  • Experience designing templates that allow social media specialists to quick-turn content

  • Demonstrated communication and organization skills

  • Ability to work under high pressure and tight deadlines

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proficient in video editing software (Adobe Premiere or Final Cut Pro) and After Effects

  • An understanding of social media platforms. We’re looking for someone who can not only design something but see a concept through from start to finish, e.g. someone who can pitch a concept, create it, come up with a caption and post it using social media management tools.

  • Basic knowledge of the sports landscape including current athletes, rules and events

  • Understanding of social media data analytics tools

Required Education

  • High School Diploma

Preferred Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in related field
