Visual Designer (Oculus) – Facebook, Menlo Park, CA

Join a team of designers and engineers who are passionate about creating a cutting edge VR experience and establishing Oculus as an industry leader. As a Visual Designer, you will be at the forefront of user interface design creating a new visual language for virtual spaces and applying it consistently through multiple 3D and 2D platforms. You will also demonstrate the ability to act as a leader in communicating conceptual ideas and design rationale, all within a user-centered design process. 

This position is full-time and based in Menlo Park. 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Create ground breaking graphic interfaces.

  • Synthesize broad, ambiguous business goals and work with the Product Design team to create compelling environments for VR.

  • Take creative direction and translate it into your design concepts.

  • Give and solicit real-time feedback from other designers and engineers to continually raise the quality and craftsmanship of the product.

  • Quickly solve issues with your cross-functional leads.

  • Clearly articulate design decisions to a vast set of internal stakeholders.

  • Thrive in dynamic, fast-paced environment.

  • Responsible for maintaining assets from creation to shipping.

  • Ability to collaborate and iterate based on the team's needs.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5+ years of experience working with user interface design, typography, iconography, information layout, color, space, and texture.

  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Outstanding portfolio. Applications without comprehensive portfolio of work will not be considered.

  • Experience with editorial, web, and mobile design.

  • Experience working with multidisciplinary UX and/or product teams (Motion, Interaction, UX research, Engineering, UX writer, 3D Generalist, Tech Artist, Computer Graphics Engineer) on technical implementation.

  • 3D experience using Houdini, Maya, 3D Studio Max, Cinema 4D, and After Effects.

  • Experience with interactive design.

  • Experience working with Unity, Unreal, and VR Shell.

  • Virtual reality experience.

  • Knowledge of emerging technologies.
