Overview
The Production Design Lead is primarily responsible for layout and design of the weekly ad circular and works closely with the Advertising Production Manager as a team lead to ensure that the production process for art/content placement, proofing and print file-release stays on schedule to meet our strict deadlines. This position will oversee the work of the production team and also confer with the Traffic Manager to ensure that any additional projects are on schedule.
Essential Functions
Production and design of the weekly ad circular and other advertising collateral arecompleted in a timely manner adhering to advertising & proofing schedules.
Attend meetings and work closely with partners from other Marketing and Merchandising departments
Provide guidance and feedback to the ad production team.
Responsible for designs and layouts of print ad materials based on knowledge of layout principles, typography and design concepts
Create and present ad material concepts that identify a product or conveys a message for the clients, to the clients, supervisors, and/or art director
Develop or acquire illustrations, graphics & images for production pieces, discussing them with clients and supervisors and making necessary changes
Determine size and arrangement of illustrative material and copy, and select style and size of type
Incorporate changes recommended by the clients, supervisors and/or art director into the final design
Assemble and prepare final layouts for printers
Review final layout and suggest improvements as needed before printing or publishing
Maintain archive of images, photos and previous work products
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Physical Requirements
Preferred Bachelor Degree in Graphic Design or a related field or an acceptable combination of experience and education
Proficient in Adobe Creative Cloud (Illustrator, Photoshop & InDesign)
Minimum of four (4) years of experience in graphic design or a related field
Minimum of two (2) years of experience as supervisor or team lead
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Must have a working knowledge of the print industry
Must have experience using Mac Platform
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook)
