Digital Design Director – Whole Foods, Austin, TX


Job Description

The Digital Design Director will lead and orchestrate critical digital priorities for projects of all sizes. You are a skilled designer with a sharp eye for clean aesthetics. You are a strong communicator who can facilitate clear work flows and approval processes between the web development team and senior leadership. Drawing from your strengths in managing projects large and small, you’ll work with multiple teams from concept to implementation and keep decision makers informed throughout the process. You’ll dive into the details of design strategy with the UX Team lead without losing sight of the overall objective. When working on multiple projects at once, you intuitively know which issues to highlight and can bring key decision makers together to come up with effective solutions.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the design and implementation of Whole Foods Market brand identity across all digital channels

  • Drive broad product initiatives within and between Marketing, UX, Product Management, Legal, Marketing and Engineering teams on products of high levels technical complexity.

  • Coordinate web and app software build releases with internal stakeholders.

  • Partner with key players to strategize for engaging design team with numerous engineering teams.

  • Prioritize feature definition, assist UX design research and implementation, and drive execution.

  • Manage external vendors, contractors, and developers as needed to support product deliverables.

Qualifications:

  • 10 years of experience in software program management.

  • BA/BS degree or equivalent practical experience.        

  • Ability to align design work to estimated timeframes.

  • Preferred qualifications:

  • A seasoned diplomat able to clearly communicate timelines to multiple teams. 

  • Experience in allocating team members accordingly against shifting priorities.

  • Ability to manage projects particular to design and technology, and/or creative projects (hardware and software experience).

  • Keen sensitivity to align deliverables for technical projects or products.

  • Experience with bug tracking, apps release processes, and software support needs.

  • Ability to understand and discuss technical topics, requirements, and limitations related to software development.
